If you want a glimpse into Judaism, just read the Old Testament of the Holy Bible. The stories of the plight of the Israeli people are described in its writings. The Books of Moses are where you find the laws and commandments that Judaism and Christianity are founded on.
The Jewish scripture and texts are much more extensive than what is found in the Old Testament. The belief is based on the teachings of Moses and the prophets and sages, and the covenant between God and the people of Israel.
The Jewish people as a religion and a race have suffered greatly. For example, the tragedy of the holocaust in Germany under the maniacal genocide ordered by Hitler. When the Jewish people gained territory considered to be their holy land and formed the State of Israel, their fight did not cease and continues to this day. Maybe Israel could learn from their own oppression and not be the oppressors.
